FIAT 500

Production vehicle, the icon reimagined

The Fiat 500 is a city car that was manufactured and marketed by Fiat Automobiles from 1957 until 1975. It was sold as a two-door semi-convertible or saloon car and as a three-door panel van or estate car.

In 2007, the 50th anniversary of the Nuova 500's launch, Fiat launched another new 500, stylistically inspired by the 1957 Nuova 500, featuring a front-mounted engine and front-wheel drive. It was conceived early 2003 by the Fiat design center in collaboration with Carcerano. For the modern version it was the design challenge to revive the iconic car rethinking the typical blood lines that made the car so very beloved in the 1950’s.

Now through a 21st century bold but playful design that is a modern interpretation of the typical styling ques of that era. Being based on Fiat Panda underpinnings the possibilities were limited but the team managed to create a newby with its typical Fiat DNA reimagined. A fresh cab forward dynamic design while emphesising the 1950’s model’s soft surfacing, reliving the classic Dante Giacosa design.
